Rebecca Ann Chapman, 57 of Gettysburg, was working at Brent Guise Family Dentistry on Feb. 20, 2024, when police were to the office at 150 Chambersburg Street for a "reported theft from the business by an employee," police stated in the release.
An investigation led by Detective Brian Weikert determined that Chapman had stolen thousands from the "business over an extended period of time," according to the release.
Chapman has been charged with 12 felonies for the following according to court documents:
- Forgery (eight counts).
- Receiving Stolen Property Fraud.
- Theft by Unlawful Taking
- Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition of Funds.
- Insurance Fraud - Knowingly Benefits From Proceeds.
Her preliminary arraignment was held before Magisterial District Judge Matthew Harvey at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, and released on $50,000 unsecured bail, the police said and court records confirmed. Her preliminary hearing is also scheduled before Judge Harvey at 10:30 a.m. on July 24.
